The Secret Banquet: Escape Room & Guided Exhibition Tour

Step into the Museum of Islamic Art for an experience that blends guided discovery with interactive play. The journey begins with a tour of the exhibition A Seat at the Table. The exhibition traces culinary traditions from the early days of Islam through to the present, highlighting key historical developments, the impact of trade on food, and contemporary challenges. It also shows how the ceremony of feasting shaped courtly culture.

The programme culminates in The Secret Banquet, an escape-room style challenge set within a mysterious banquet setting. In small groups, participants unravel historical clues, riddles, and puzzles inspired by the exhibition and the museum’s collections. The challenge draws on forgotten culinary traditions, blending storytelling, critical thinking, and cultural exploration in an immersive format. Designed for curious minds and ideal for team-building, it offers a distinctive way to engage with Islamic art and heritage. A themed food and beverage serving closes the programme, extending the banquet beyond the page.
