Families are invited to take part in this exciting workshop at Liwan, where children are introduced to the basics of archaeology through the study and drawing of pottery sherds. Led by Dalaa Kuzbari, Archaeological Ceramics and Objects Specialist and Margaux Montserrat De Pauw, Senior Heritage Activation Programming Coordinator from the Archaeology Department, the session shows how archaeologists use pottery fragments to piece together the lives of people who once lived here. Broken pieces become clues that tell stories of daily life in the past.

Designed for children aged 6–10, children will learn simple techniques for observing shape, decoration, and detail before sketching what they see. With all tools and materials provided, they will practise careful observation and drawing. The aim is to build confidence while exploring both the creative and scientific sides of archaeology. Parents are welcome to accompany their children, sharing the experience and supporting them as they learn together.
