A behind-the-scenes studio tour with 10 visual artists from the Artists Intensive Study Programme (AISP) at Fire Station, ahead of their exhibition opening this November. Members move through active studios in small groups, see works in progress, and hear directly from the artists about their process. Guided by Rose Lejeune, Head of Academic and Community Programs.

22 visual artists, selected from nearly 1,000 applicants across Qatar and 14 countries, are spending 9 months at Fire Station developing new work for AISP's exhibition, opening this November. Their practices span painting, sculpture, video, photography, installation, printmaking, and archival and oral-history-based work, offering a wide view of how emerging artists build a body of work from the ground up. 

Hissa Alkuwari (Qatar) — painting, printmaking, photography, installation 

Jude Samman (Jordan) — surrealist painting, interdisciplinary research 

Dalila Hassanein (Egypt) — painting and installation, found materials 

AZ OOR (Morocco) — multidisciplinary practice spanning visual art, sound, and storytelling 

Leena Kim (South Korea/USA) — video, photography, installation 

Amanda Assaley (USA) — sculptural work across image, object, text, and film 

Amentia Siard Brochard (France) — sculpture, video, photography 

Bokyoung Jeong (South Korea) — spatial installation using industrial materials 

Jagdish Moktan (Nepal) — archives, oral histories, storytelling 



Members move through active studios in small groups, encountering unfinished works, materials, and sketches still in progress, and hearing directly from the artists about their process: the experiments, the false starts, and the ideas still taking shape. 

This experience will be guided by Rose Lejeune, Head of Academic and Community Programs, and Amna Al Muftah, Programs Coordinator. 

Because this experience takes place inside working studios, places are limited to a small group. 

Fire Station is Doha's non-profit centre for contemporary art production, housed in a repurposed 1982 civil defence building. Its Artists Intensive Study Programme brings emerging Qatari and international artists together for a nine-month residency shaping a new generation of critical, innovative practice.
