Fanoon Artist Talks with Shuddhabrata Sengupta of The Raqs Media Collective

Fanoon is a public lecture series and a university seminar—the kind of course we wish we had attended as students.

Bringing together four internationally renowned artists, it serves as an experiment in pedagogy, inaugurating a new collaboration between a museum and an arts university. The invited artists offer a unique introduction to research-driven artistic practices, with a particular focus on architecture and infrastructure. Their public lectures are open to all, while the accompanying seminar—led by writer and curator Tirdad Zolghadr—is open to students across Doha.

Moving between Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art and the Painting and Printmaking programme (Department of Fine Arts) at VCUarts Qatar, the program establishes an active connection between museum and school, and in doing so, it creates a space for sustained dialogue around contemporary artistic practice while proposing a hopeful model for future arts education. All lectures take place at the Makan Auditorium at Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art

حوارات "فنون" هي سلسلة من المحاضرات العامة  ترافقها  ندوة للطلاب الجامعيين؛ وهي من نوع المقررات التي كنا نتمنى أن تتاح لنا فرصة الالتحاق بها عندما كنا طلابًا.

تجمع السلسلة أربعة فنانين مرموقين على الساحة الدولية، وتشكل تجربة في علم أساليب التعليم، وتدشن تعاونًا جديدًا بين متحف: المتحف العربي للفن الحديث وبرامج الرسم والطباعة (قسم الفنون الجميلة) في جامعة فرجينيا كومنولث كلية فنون التصميم في قطر. ويقدم الفنانون المشاركون مدخلًا فريدًا إلى الممارسات الفنية القائمة على البحث، مع تركيز خاص على العمارة والبنية التحتية. وتُتاح محاضراتهم العامة للجميع، في حين تُتاح الندوات الدراسية المصاحبة، التي يديرها الكاتب والقيم الفني تيرداد زولغادر، للطلاب ممن يدرسون بمختلف مؤسسات المدينة التعليمية في الدوحة. 

ومن خلال ذلك، يهيئ البرنامج مساحة لحوار مستدام حول الممارسات الفنية المعاصرة، ويطرح في الوقت نفسه نموذجًا واعدًا لمستقبل التعليم الفني.
