Culture as Diplomat: How Cultural Institutions Shape International Relationships

Cultural institutions can create encounters that formal diplomacy cannot: between different histories, perspectives and ways of seeing the world. Through exhibitions, artistic collaborations, exchanges, and international partnerships, they can open conversations, challenge perceptions, and build connections across borders. What makes culture an effective instrument of international engagement? Can cultural institutions build trust where political channels are constrained, and influence how countries and societies understand one another? The conversation will examine the growing role of cultural institutions in international affairs, and their potential to create new pathways for cooperation.

يمكن للمؤسسات الثقافية أن تتيح لقاءات تعجز الدبلوماسية الرسمية عن إتاحتها؛ لقاءات بين روايات تاريخية ووجهات نظر مختلفة وطرق متباينة في رؤية العالم. فهي قادرة، من خلال المعارض ومبادرات التعاون الفني والتبادلات والشراكات الدولية، على فتح أبواب الحوار وتحدي التصورات وبناء روابط تتجاوز الحدود. فما الذي يجعل من الثقافة أداة ناجعة للتفاعل الدولي؟ وهل تستطيع المؤسسات الثقافية أن تمد جسور الثقة حين تكون القنوات السياسية محصورة، وأن تؤثر في كيفية فهم البلدان والمجتمعات لبعضها بعضًا؟ سيتناول هذا اللقاء دور المؤسسات الثقافية المتنامي في الشؤون الدولية، وإمكانياتها لإيجاد سبل جديدة للتعاون.
