What can art do for the environment? What has it achieved so far? Olafur Eliasson has redefined the role of the artist (and of art) in the current era. His installations compel viewers to confront climate change and the sustainability of natural resources with an imperative urgency. HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani has been at the helm of art, culture and the creative industries for the State of Qatar. She spearheaded environmental protection projects, cleaning up the desert and beaches of Qatar and developing numerous sustainability initiatives. This conversation will explore the nexus between art and the environment and what creative actors have done to combat climate change.

  • H.E. Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani
  • Olafur Eliasson
  • Roslyn Sulcas (moderator)
